Most people who make it to Cerana are already sold on the mead. The part that trips people up is everything around it, when to go, how to get there, and what to actually do with the rest of the day once the tasting’s done. Here’s how we’d plan it.
Getting there
Cerana sits in Sinnar, which puts it within easy weekend range of both Pune and Mumbai.
From Pune: around 210 km, roughly 4 to 5 hours by road depending on traffic through the ghats.
From Mumbai: around 165 km, about 3.5 to 4 hours.
Both routes are comfortable enough to drive yourself, though if you’d rather not think about the road at all, that’s something a trip planner can take off your hands entirely.
When to go
Nashik is at its best in the cooler months, roughly October through February, when the vineyard and hill views are clearest and a day of tasting doesn’t turn into an afternoon spent avoiding the heat. Monsoon has its own appeal too, the Sahyadris turn properly green, just budget extra time on the road.
Two ways to do it
The day trip. Time your drive around Cerana’s tasting hours, treat lunch nearby as part of the plan rather than an afterthought, and you can be back home the same evening. Works well if you’re tight on time but still want it to feel like an outing, not an errand.
The overnight. Pair your Cerana visit with a night at Cerenity Castle and the whole trip changes shape, less about ticking off a tasting and more about actually slowing down in the Sahyadris. This is the version worth taking a Saturday off for.
